Director, Management Consulting

Min. Experience: Senior Manager/Supervisor

Director will have a leadership role in their assigned practice well as the organization. They may have responsibility for one of more projects and may have both an oversight and direct role on these projects. They may have responsibility for a program made up of several smaller projects.

 

Along with their project responsibilities, the Director will be asked contribute to marketing efforts, sales activities, practice development tasks and recruiting. They should expect to take a proactive and significant role in the company’s growth initiative. The Director will work under the direction of their assigned Partner.

 

The key objectives for the Director are:  

  • Project Initiation – lead the scoping and project definition, complete the project onboarding process, assimilate client information and project contractual obligations, understand and assign project tasks
  • Project Planning - complete the detailed project planning and communication to project team (internal and external)
  • Project Execution – successfully manage the overall project and complete all assigned individual project tasks throughout the project, meeting timelines and deliverable quality standards
  • Project Closure – complete assigned project closure tasks including documentation, templates and marketing activities
  • Client Expansion – expand relationships with existing client(s) and network to generate new leads and opportunities
  • Corporate Growth – lead corporate initiatives in support of company mission; work with the leadership team to set and achieve corporate goals, and create and enforce quality expectations throughout the organization

 

The Director’s responsibilities fall into three major categories; Delivery, Practice Development and Sales / Sales Collaboration & Marketing.

Delivery

  • Sustain an average billable utilization of 90%
  • Provide leadership to the delivery team (for the assigned practice)
  • Maintain a high level of Customer Satisfaction by exceeding client expectations
  • Manage Programs / Multiple Projects

Practice Development

  • Lead corporate initiatives
  • Lead operational support with the creation and refinement of deliverables and processes (focused on project delivery)
  • Participate in Recruiting activities

 Sales / Sales Collaboration & Marketing

  • Lead Sales & Business Development opportunities
  • Provide input and content for selective marketing activities as identified by leadership
  • Maintain expected levels of activity within the Relationship Sales Program
  • Identify ‘upsell’ opportunities at existing clients as well as new opportunities


Organization and Relationship

The Director will report directly to an assigned Partner. The Director may have one or more Sr. Managers and/or Managers reporting to them. The following Organization Chart depicts an example of the reporting relationships for this role. 

 

Skills & Experience

At a minimum, the Director should have the following key skills, competencies and experience:  

  • Program and Project Management expertise in large and/or global transformational projects
  • Certified in at least one project management methodology such as Waterfall, Six Sigma, Lean, Agile (Scrum/Kanban), etc.
  • Business Development / Sales Leadership
  • Previous regulatory compliance and/or software validation experience desired
  • Packaged Software and SDLC implementation experience
  • Strong Analytical and Problem Solving skills
  • Deep Business Process and Operations understanding (i.e., Finance, Supply Chain, etc.)
  • Self-Managed and Motivated
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Delivery Practice Leadership
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree
